Marvin was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas and he was working in the family grocery store by the age of seven, along with his Father Fred, Mother Phyllis and Sister Claire. He attended South Shore High School and graduated from Northwestern University for both his undergraduate and law degrees. Marvin was admitted to the bar in 1953 and practiced law for over 60 years. He was unsuccessful in his attempt to retire and reportedly was working shortly before his death.

Marvin was productive until his final days, which is exactly as he would have planned. Marvin was an excellent athlete, lucky fisherman, and a ruthless, skilled card player. He was known for his command of bridge and poker games on the morning and evening commuter rails for some thirty-odd years. Marvin and Lorna moved to Mount Prospect in the 1950s and were lifelong members of the Community Presbyterian Church. Marvin was fiercely independent and lived a full and free life. His love, intelligence, problem solving skills, humor, generosity, selflessness and stability will be missed.

A memorial service will be held on April 18 at the Community Presbyterian Church, 407 N. Main St, Mt Prospect, IL at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 18th.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to the National Stroke Association or to your local animal shelter.
